It just came across the wires that Pres. Obama later today will announce he is appointing former federal prosecutor Mary Jo White to be the next Chair of the SEC.
She was a well-known (and well-respected) prosecutor here in New York, appointed by Pres. Bill Clinton. She successfully nailed terrorists, Wall Streeters and mobsters. Most recently she has been in private law practice at Debevoise & Plimpton for the last 10 years. She has also served on the board of the Nasdaq.
It will be interesting to see how Ms. White (who is also a terrific speaker) tackles small business issues as the new SEC Chair. We wish her all the best.
